Kenny 'very surprised' by Celtic-Christie transfer update via McGowan in Daily Mail
It is “very surprising” to see so many high-profile clubs pursue Ryan Christie after his poor season with Celtic in 2020-21.
That is according to ex-Premier League goalkeeper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the midfielder’s future at Parkhead.
The Daily Mail reported on 21st June that Monaco and Nice have joined Brendan Rodgers’ Leicester City in the race for the 26-year-old’s signature.
Christie’s current deal expires in January 2021 meaning this summer may be the only remaining window Celtic have to cash in on him.
The 20-cap Scotland international featured 29 times for Celtic in total throughout their woeful Scottish Premiership title defence in 2020-21.
And Kenny admitted he was surprised to see such a high calibre of clubs interested in Christie despite a below-par season.

He told Football Insider correspondent Adam Williams: “I’m very surprised by that. I do think it’s a little bit strange.”
“Obviously, he was there with Brendan Rodgers and that’s why there’s the Leicester link.
“But there are other clubs interested in him and they must have seen something in him last season.
“It’s not just one club either, there are multiple clubs after him. It’s very surprising because of the way he’s behaved and the way the fans have accused him of downing tools.
“But to have so many big clubs interested when you’ve not had a great season, it’s a funny one.”
Christie featured in one of three Scotland matches in Group D at Euro 2020.
Steve Clarke’s side are out of the competition following their 3-1 loss to Croatia on Tuesday.
