Celtic summer arrival must consider exit if he fails to start huge semi-final
Celtic summer loan signing Odsonne Edouard was the Hoops match-winner the last time they played Rangers, but he is unlikely to play a major role in their upcoming Scottish Cup semi-final against the Ibrox side.
The 20-year-old Frenchman, who joined the Hoops from PSG, has had an up and down time in Glasgow, on the plus side he did score the memorable winning goal at Ibrox and has nine goals for the season, but on the downside he has found it difficult to hold down a first-team place.
The Hoops have the option to make the loan move permanent at the end of the season, but before Edouard agrees to join the Hoops permanently he should look for assurances from Brendan Rodgers that he will be involved more next season.
There is no guarantee that even if Moussa Dembele departs Glasgow in the summer that Edouard will suddenly become first choice striker, as the Hoops would likely spend big on a Dembele replacement and Leigh Griffiths will still be at the club.
There’s little doubt that Celtic fans would hope that the club is able to persuade the player that his future lies in the East End of Glasgow, but the player should consider his options, especially if he misses out on the semi-final.
