Celtic need to sign more than one striker this summer with Odsonne Edouard and Leigh Griffiths “likely” to leave.

That is the view of Parkhead legend Frank McAvennie, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about Celtic’s potentially depleted strike force ahead of the summer transfer window.

According to The Sunday Post, Aberdeen are looking to bring Griffiths to Pittodrie as they look to add a proven goalscorer to their squad.

The centre-forward has fallen out of favour at Celtic Park this season, but did start Saturday’s 3-0 win over Falkirk in the Scottish Cup.

Football Insider understands Edouard will also look to leave the club this summer as he prepares to enter the final 12 months of his contract.

When asked for his thoughts on next season’s striking options, McAvennie told Football Insider: “I think Edouard will leave, a move sounds like it’s on the cards.

“They’re also talking about Griffiths likely leaving as well, which I cannot understand because he is the best finisher at the club. I can understand why Aberdeen might want Griff though.

“If the two of them leave, they have to bring in strikers because Patryk Klimala and Albian Ajeti are not good enough to take Celtic to where they need to be next season.

“The likes of Neil Lennon and John kennedy have kept saying, ‘Griff is not fit.’ Well, what are the fitness coaches doing? What are they getting paid for?”
