Done deal: Celtic agree terms with highly-rated defender

By John Reid

Celtic left-back Kieran Tierney, one of the hottest prospects in British football, has signed a new contract with the Parkhead club.

The 20 year old has signed a six-year deal and the news was announced on the official Celtic Twitter page on Monday.

Tierney made his Celtic debut at the age of 18, and has since established himself as Rodgers’ first-choice left-back.

He was given his first start by former Celtic boss Ronny Deila, and hasn’t looked back since.

His play has thrived under Brendan Rodgers, and he most recently displayed his prowess with a superb performance against Aberdeen in a top-of-the-table clash.

Tierney’s debut for Scotland followed in due course, coming against Denmark in 2016.

He is currently Scotland’s right-back, while Liverpool’s Andy Robertson plays at left-back.

Tierney has already won every domestic trophy for Celtic, and could well be in line for a few more.

His long-term deal could also net Celtic a huge profit if and when they decide to sell the player, although Celtic fans will be hoping that’s not for a while yet.
