Derby County striker Darren Bent has backed Wolverhampton Wanderers to win promotion to the Premier League this season.
Wolves currently sit top of the Championship table after 16 matches, two points clear of Sheffield United in second place.
They have one 11 of their Championship games this season and Bent believes they will win promotion this campaign.
“The one team from the Championship I can see definitely getting promoted would be Wolves,” said Bent on Sky Sports’ The Debate (Sky Sports Premier League, Thursday, 10pm).
The forward praised Nuno Espírito Santo’s side for the quality passing football they showed in the 2-0 Championship win against Derby in August.
“They came to Pride Park this season and they were fantastic, they passed us off the pitch. They play such an expansive way, it’s crazy to be fair.”
Wolves last won the Championship title in 2008/09 under Mick McCarthy and battled two seasons of relegation in the top flight before being relegated in 2011/12.
Bent scored against Wolves in a 3-2 win for Derby at Molineux last season but is currently out with a hamstring injury he suffered in when taking a penalty in pre-season.
Wolves will be hoping to extend their lead at the top of the table when they return to Championship action against last season’s play-off finalists Reading at the Madejski Stadium tomorrow.
However, their title rivals Sheffield United could overtake them by one point with a win at relegation-threatened Burton Albion this evening.
In other Wolves news, the club are in discussions with this teenage sensation over a new contract.
