Charlie Adam believes Liverpool need to fill six positions in the summer if they are to improve their squad.
The Stoke City midfielder stated that his former club needs a new goalkeeper, left back, central midfielder, striker and two wingers.
Jurgen Klopp made no additions to his squad during the January transfer window as the German aims to secure a top-four finish for his side at the end of the Premier League campaign.
In the summer, his most expensive and currently most successful purchase was Sadio Mane from Southampton for a fee of £35million.
The versatile attacker has scored nine goals this season and during his international commitments in January, Klopp’s side suffered numerous defeats without him.
As a result, Scotland international Adam stated who they need to buy at the end of the current season.
“Personally, they need a goalkeeper,” Adam told BBC Radio Five Live. “They need a left-back, Milner has done a terrific job, but they need an actual left-back.
“They need another central midfielder, they need another striker and I think they need a couple of wingers.”
During Mane’s absence, the Reds needed a replay to beat League Two outfit Plymouth in the FA Cup, before eventually being knocked out of the competition by Wolves in the following round.
Furthermore, Southampton defeated Klopp’s side over two legs to progress through to the final of the EFL Cup.
Relegation-threatened Swansea also picked up a 3-2 win in the Premer League at Anfield in January, with Hull being the latest team to secure all three points against the title chasers.
