Chelsea and Liverpool stars react to Evan Ferguson West Ham announcement
Liverpool and Chelsea players have both responded to Evan Ferguson after Deadline Day transfer window news at West Ham.
The Hammers were quiet throughout the rest of the transfer window, but did bring in a player in a key position for Graham Potter in the final hours before the market closed.
That came in the form of the Irish striker, with it announced on Monday (3 February) that the centre-forward has joined on loan from Premier League rivals Brighton until the end of the season.
Potter previously managed the 20-year-old for the Seagulls, and will be hoping to get the best out of him again now they have been reunited at West Ham.
West Ham news prompts reaction from former Ferguson teammates
The Hammers will have been pleased to get a deal for the striker over the line after being linked with him for some time during the window, and Ferguson is also pleased to have secured his move.
Taking to Instagram after completing his loan deal, the Republic of Ireland international revealed his delight and excitement at joining West Ham.
Among those to react to that post were Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sanchez and Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister, who both played with Ferguson previously at Brighton.
The duo both liked the striker’s post, showing their ongoing support for their old teammate at his new club.
Football Insider Verdict
This feels like a big opportunity for Ferguson after he had fallen down the pecking order and seemingly out of contention at Brighton.
West Ham needed a striker in the window given the injuries to Michail Antonio and Niclas Fullkrug, so this move should give Ferguson plenty of chances to show what he can do at this level.
There had also been talks of a permanent move during January, so this loan spell could have implications for his long-term future as well.
