Chelsea assessing £60m Robin Roefs deal amid Liverpool and Man City interest
Chelsea continue to have a strong interest in Sunderland star Robin Roefs ahead of the summer transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.
The Premier League giants are keeping close tabs on the 23-year-old as they look to sign a new number one in the upcoming window.
Chelsea are assessing potentially paying up to £60million for Roefs but also face competition from Liverpool and Manchester City, who are keeping tabs on the Black Cats star.
Roefs signed for Sunderland upon their return to the Premier League and has quickly become their number one.
So far this campaign, he has kept eight clean sheets in 28 matches as Chelsea eye a sensational transfer to get him to Stamford Bridge for next season.

Since moving to the Stadium of Light, Roefs has been a key player for Sunderland.
Much of the Black Cats’ success this season has been built upon their stubborn backline, and much of this is thanks to the goalkeeper.
| Robin Roefs’ Premier League stats this season | Per 90 minutes |
| Saves | 3.04 |
| Save percentage | 71.4% |
| Goals prevented | 0.008 |
| Clean sheets | 0.29 |
| Errors leading to goals | 0.07 |
| Penalty save rate | 33.3% |
According to Fotmob on 3 April, the 23-year-old is averaging a save percentage of 71.4, is making 3.04 saves and preventing 0.008 goals per match.
His save percentage is particularly impressive, with only Gianluigi Donnarumma and Emi Martinez averaging higher in the Premier League.
Therefore, if he were to move to Stamford Bridge in the summer, there is every chance that he could finally end the Blues’ awful goalkeeping problems that have plagued their season to date.
How active will Chelsea be in the summer transfer window?
Ex-Everton, Aston Villa, and Aberdeen chief executive Keith Wyness exclusively told Football Insider that despite their record-breaking loss, Chelsea will be active in the transfer window.
Instead, the Blues will rely on player trading to help bring money into the club as they look to eventually mount a Premier League title challenge.
However, Chelsea’s financial position could worsen next season if they fail to qualify for the Champions League, something they are currently on track to miss out on.
As a result, a positive end to the current campaign could be crucial in ensuring that the Blues have extra wiggle room to bring in additional quality players in the summer transfer window.
Nevertheless, it remains to be seen if Roefs will be a player who joins Chelsea in the coming months, especially given the interest from Liverpool and Man City.
