Antonio Conte was asked if he thought it was a good idea for Everton to send fans a survey asking them to rate the performance of Sam Allardyce from 0-10.
Conte was talking in the pre-match press conference ahead of the Burnley game on Thursday night and laughed when he was asked the question.
He then said, as quoted by Football.London, “No, I don’t think it was. The club has to judge the work of the players and the manager and the staff. This is the right way and it is right to be so.”
The Everton survey was sent out to a certain section of Everton fans but news of it blew up on the internet on Tuesday.
Football Insider verdict:
Poor old Sam Allardyce. Okay, if you’re an Everton fan you won’t have much sympathy but this must have been really humiliating for the veteran manager. There does seem to be a huge disconnect between how he views how things are going at Everton and how things are actually going down, but he doesn’t deserve to be graded from 0 to 10 by fans. And if he is, he really won’t want to to look at the results. It leaves one question, what was the club thinking?
