Chelsea braced for Levi Colwill bid after Liverpool update – sources

Chelsea are expecting summer transfer window bids for defender Levi Colwill, sources have told Football Insider.

The 21-year-old is a long-term target for Liverpool and PSG, with the Blues concerned about such interest.

Having come through the Chelsea academy, Colwill is a homegrown player, with sources telling Football Insider earlier this month that the Blues are looking to make pure profit on homegrown stars this summer due to financial fair play worries.

Colwill has now joined the likes of Conor Gallagher, Armando Broja and Trevoh Chalobah in homegrown players who could be moved on at the end of the season.

The centre-back has been limited to 32 appearances in all competitions this season due to various injury issues.

He is an important player for Mauricio Pochettino when fit, having become a regular in blue following loan spells at Huddersfield Town and Brighton.

The 21-year-old, who has one England appearance to his name, has operated at both centre-back and left-back this season.

Sources told Football Insider on Sunday (21 April) that Chelsea’s Premier League rivals Liverpool are prioritising the signing of a left-sided centre-back this summer.

Colwill is contracted to the West London outfit until 2029, having penned a new six-year deal at Stamford Bridge in August.
