Chelsea disbelief as Cole Palmer annoyed at Jadon Sancho
Cole Palmer was “annoyed” at Jadon Sancho during the Chelsea victory over Brentford after what his club and international teammate failed to do, according to Graeme Le Saux.
The Blues secured their seventh consecutive win under Enzo Maresca with a 2-1 triumph at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, 15 December.
Goals from Marc Cucurella and Nicolas Jackson moved them within two points of league leaders Liverpool.
Palmer had hoped to open the scoring, but his chance was squandered after a decision by Sancho.
In the 26th minute, Chelsea broke forward with an overload but instead of passing to the 22-year-old in space, Sancho played a different ball to Noni Madueke who was covered. The move broke down immediately thanks to Yoane Wissa, leaving Palmer visibly frustrated.
Le Saux highlighted the incident on the NBC commentary (15 December, 7:26pm): “Cole Palmer can’t quite believe it. He’s slightly annoyed at Jadon Sancho. It was a brilliant break by Chelsea.
“They were set, weren’t they? As soon as they won that first ball, they were off. They got the wrong side of Brentford in numbers but couldn’t capitalise on it.”
Chelsea are in the title race despite Enzo Maresca denials
Football Insider opinion
Palmer has continued his incredible form this season, contributing 17 goals and assists and playing a key role in his team’s strong performances.
It’s understandable why he pushes for more goals – he’s a player who demands them.
While Maresca downplays his team’s title credentials, his side’s performances have already made him a strong contender for Manager of the Season.

Although it suggests a gradual process for the Italian manager, Chelsea have gone full throttle in his debut season.
Mounting injuries may be a concern, especially with key players like their captain sidelined for weeks.
Yet, the West London club have won 10 of their first 16 matches and now claim the best attacking record in the league with 37 goals.
Whether they can maintain this form during the busy festive period remains to be seen.
