Chelsea fans rip into Clearlake after journalist’s Josh Acheampong update: ‘Don’t you dare’
Chelsea fans have lashed out at the club’s board, including Clearlake Capital and Todd Boehly, after the latest update on Josh Acheampong’s future sparked outrage.
The 19-year-old has enjoyed a breakout season for the Blues, largely featuring at right-back as cover for Reece James and Malo Gusto.
Acheampong signed a long-term contract with Chelsea during the winter window, easing concerns over his future and paving the way for more first-team opportunities.
He has impressed during his appearances, settling seamlessly into the side whenever called upon, racking up 19 appearances across all competitions.
Earlier this month, reports emerged suggesting Acheampong could leave Chelsea on loan this summer to gain regular minutes.
However, a fresh update has now followed, causing anger among fans who believe the club could be mishandling yet another promising young player’s development.

Borussia Dortmund plot permanent move for Josh Acheampong
Miguel Delaney of The Independent revealed on 26 June that Borussia Dortmund are “exploring a deal” to sign Acheampong on a permanent basis.
Delaney also reported there is now a “belief among suitor clubs” that Chelsea could be willing to do business for around £35million.
With Chelsea currently in advanced negotiations to sign Dortmund’s Jamie Bynoe-Gittens, a potential deal involving Acheampong going the other way could now be on the table.
Acheampong has impressed both pundits and fans with his rapid rise into the Chelsea first team this season. But with James and Gusto ahead of him in the pecking order, his pathway to regular minutes remains unclear.

Chelsea fans rage at Clearlake as club consider Acheampong sale
Despite limited game time, the 19-year-old has already established himself as a fan favourite at Stamford Bridge.
Enzo Maresca came under fire earlier this year for substituting Acheampong at half-time during a Conference League tie against Copenhagen in March.
Supporters have become increasingly frustrated by the club’s repeated trend of losing Cobham academy graduates, only to watch them thrive elsewhere.
Newcastle now boast both Lewis Hall and Tino Livramento as first-team regulars, with both full-backs impressing this season.
With the potential sale of Acheampong, many fans fear history is repeating itself — and they are not hiding their frustration.
One supporter reacted to the news saying: “Sell Josh Acheampong and we RIOT!!!!” while another added: “Pure profit. That’s the ONLY thing this regime cares about. How any fan can back this ‘project’ is beyond me.”
