Chelsea have ‘serious issues’ building up as BlueCo sent message over Liam Rosenior sack

Chelsea’s ownership would have to take full accountability if they were to sack Liam Rosenior just months into his time at Stamford Bridge.

That is according to ex-Everton, Aston Villa, and Aberdeen chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, as pressure grows on Rosenior following a 3-0 defeat at Everton.

Chelsea’s hopes of qualifying for the Champions League now lie out of their own hands, with Rosenior’s side having now lost four straight matches in all competitions.

The decision to hand the 41-year-old his first job in the Premier League may be backfiring on Chelsea’s ownership, who are already polarising figures at the club.

Chelsea sacked Enzo Maresca earlier in the campaign, with midfielder Enzo Fernandez expressing his disappointment at that decision after the loss at Everton.

‘Serious issues’ developing at Chelsea

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – said he saw “no fight” in the Chelsea team against the Toffees.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast, Wyness believes players like Fernandez would be “very hard to get rid of” due to the length of contract that the club have put him on.

Liam Rosenior’s managerial record at Chelsea in all competitions so far.

He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “If they’re an unhappy group, and I watched them against Everton at the weekend, and there was no real fight in that team, there was no real backbone and character, and Everton took them apart.

“And so if you start to see, no matter what length of contract they’re on, and they’ll be very hard to get rid of, if they’re unhappy. Chelsea in the end now seem to be piling up some serious issues for themselves.

“So I’ve got a big watching eye right now on the whole Chelsea situation. And if Rosenior goes, it will prove again that the owners have got it wrong at crucial, you know, crucial hirings.”

Alejandro Garnacho concerns emerge

Former Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown has told Football Insider that Chelsea are becoming unhappy at Alejandro Garnacho’s attitude at the club.

Chelsea would have expected greater productivity from the forward during his first season in west London, with the Blues having paid Man United £40million for the 21-year-old.

Garnacho’s attitude was also a problem at Old Trafford, and Chelsea could look to move him on if it does not improve.
