Chelsea: Liam Rosenior facing ‘dressing room revolt’ after star names speak out

Chelsea are facing growing issues with unhappy players behind the scenes after multiple big names spoke out against the club.

Liam Rosenior is now being made to deal with the in-house issues after the likes of Enzo Fernandez and Marc Cucurella slammed the Blues’ decision-making.

Both players are believed to carry a lot of influence behind the scenes, and have slammed the decision to let Enzo Maresca leave and hinted that they could be tempted away.

Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Chelsea have failed to squash the issue which has now spiralled into a public spectacle.

Both players are believed to have publicly expressed their frustrations before speaking out, but the pressure is now on Chelsea to deal with the players.

Chelsea facing dressing room revolt as players speak out

Former Everton CEO Keith Wyness told Football Insider that Chelsea will hold an inquiry into the issues behind the scenes at the end of the season.

Having seen multiple key players vent their issues in public, alarm bells have been set off at Stamford Bridge, with the owners now facing serious questions.

Enzo Fernandez“Sometimes, there are things that we as players don’t understand… Obviously, his [Maresca’s] departure hurt us a lot…”, “There are 8 games left and the FA Cup. There’s the World Cup and then we’ll see.”
Marc Cucurella“The moment Maresca left, it had a big impact on us. These are decisions taken by the club. If you asked me, I would not have made this decision.”
Moises Caicedo“It’s a bit difficult because we were used to Maresca’s style. The adaptation has taken us a little while…”, “I have a contract, but we’ll see what the future holds.”
Multiple Chelsea stars have spoken out against the club.

The issue has now grown inside the Chelsea dressing room, with Rosenior tasked with easing the pressure after he took steps to leave Fernandez out.

“Chelsea are in a really difficult position,” Brown told Football Insider.

“Players are speaking out publicly against the club and decisions that have been made and they’ll have a revolt on their hands if they’re not careful.

“They haven’t done anything to prevent it, and it’s an issue they created for themselves. It should have been nipped in the bud at the first sign of discontent.

“All of the players who have now spoken publicly have been frustrated for a long time and that will have been known behind the scenes at Chelsea.

“But they did nothing to deal with it, and now the manager is being made to address it.

“It’s a desperate situation to be in because once these things are out there they tend to grow and get worse, there are more and more players speaking out.”

How could the Chelsea drama impact Liam Rosenior?

Amid growing concerns in the Chelsea dressing room, questions have been asked about whether Rosenior is the right man to deal with these high-profile issues.

He has taken steps to remove Fernandez from his squad which have since been publicly criticised by the player’s agent, but is sticking to his guns.

However, Wyness told Football Insider on 2 April that Chelsea are asking questions of Rosenior and could opt to move in a new direction come the summer.

The situation behind the scenes at Stamford Bridge has become difficult for the boss to handle, although he has insisted he is dealing with the concerns.

Chelsea have been keen to support Rosenior, at least in public, but ongoing issues and new concerns emerging has raised new doubts about his position.
