Chelsea: Liam Rosenior must still solve disciplinary issue as Pedro Neto clashes vs Mexico
Chelsea‘s disciplinary problems have yet to be solved by new manager Liam Rosenior, despite players currently being away on international duty.
The Blues are by far the most reckless side in the Premier League, boasting three more red cards than any other club, with seven so far, most recently going down to 10 men against Arsenal.
It was two foolish cautions from Pedro Neto on that occasion, and with Joao Pedro also being given his marching orders in the Champions League this term, supporters are beginning to lose patience.
Chelsea next face Port Vale in the FA Cup, which should be a simple fixture for the Premier League giants, but an early sending off could certainly change the game, which would not be a total surprise.

The duo of Moises Caicedo and Robert Sanchez often feel like walking red cards, at least to the fans, both of whom have been sent for early showers this season.
Other than Burnley during the 2023-24 campaign (7), this is the most red cards from a single club in the Premier League over the past 10 seasons, presenting Rosenior with a major issue.
Although the new manager has only been in charge for a matter of weeks, taking over from Enzo Maresca, it is clearly his problem to solve now, and quite an important one it is.
| Premier League 2025-26 | No. of red cards |
| Chelsea | 7 |
| Tottenham | 4 |
| Everton | 4 |
| Wolves | 3 |
| West Ham | 3 |
| Burnley | 3 |
| Newcastle United | 3 |
Chelsea continue to hand themselves setbacks and disadvantages, and without those, who knows exactly where they would currently be in the league standings.
Pedro Neto is a walking time bomb at Stamford Bridge
Just seven games after being sent off against Arsenal, Neto is involved once again. On this occasion, however, he is away from Stamford Bridge and, frankly, out of control.
During a friendly fixture between Portugal and Mexico, the 26-year-old was seen lashing out at Jesus Gallardo, with both being shown a yellow card each by the referee.
Speaking to Football Insider, Keith Hackett also said that Neto should have been fined against PSG after clashing with a ball boy, furthering the argument that Rosenior doesn’t have his team’s discipline under control.
The former Strasbourg manager is very new to the role at Stamford Bridge, so there could be a very different-looking team after the summer transfer window. Either way, something needs to change.
