Chelsea next manager odds: Filipe Luis installed as new favourite to replace Liam Rosenior

Chelsea‘s next manager could be ex-player Filipe Luis after he was installed as a top bookmakers’ new favourite to succeed Liam Rosenior if he is sacked.

Rosenior is under real pressure right now after a run of four straight defeats that culminated in a 3-0 loss to Everton on Saturday evening.

The 41-year-old looked to proving many of his doubters wrong prior to that run, with 10 wins and just three losses from his first 15 games at the helm.

He is now facing uncertainty around his future though, but reports have stated that the Blues are not planning to make an immediate decision on his future during the international break.

Chelsea’s next manager could be hired soon if their bad form continues, however, with Luis a leading contender, according to the bookies.

Filipe Luis is the 2/1 favourite to be Chelsea’s next manager

As a player, Brazilian international Luis spent the 2014-15 season and helped them to Premier League and League Cup glory while making 26 appearances across all competitions.

He retired in 2023 after spells at Atletico Madrid and Flamengo, and almost immediately entered management with the latter’s under-17 side.

Luis’ stats in charge of Flamengo

Luis took charge of Flamengo’s first-team in September 2024, and guided them to a whole host of trophies, including the Copa Libertadores, in the following 18 months.

The 40-year-old was surprisingly relieved of his duties by the Brazilian giants on 3 March, with reports claiming that a decision had been taken partly because he spoke to Chelsea about their vacant manager role before Rosenior took over.

He has now been installed as the 2/1 favourite by one of the UK’s leading bookmakers to be their next manager after Rosenior.

Who else is in the running to take over at Chelsea?

It remains to be seen if a decision is taken at some point soon, but Football Insider have revealed that Rosenior’s job is safe for now, even though their next two league games are against Man City and Man United.

While Luis is the favourite to be the next boss at Stamford Bridge, Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner has emerged as the second-favourite with a top bookmaker, at odds of 4/1.

Xavi Hernandez is also a leading contender at 5/1 odds, with Roberto De Zerbi and Cesc Fabregas each close behind at odds of 6/1.

Other potential contenders include Marco Silva (8/1), Frank Lampard (8/1), Unai Emery (12/1), and Fabian Hurzeler (12/1).
