Chelsea now turn attention to signing Filip Jorgensen – sources
Chelsea have made Villarreal goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen their top target this summer, sources have told Football Insider.
The Blues are looking to bolster their goalkeeping options this summer, and the 22-year-old is understood to be keen on a move to Stamford Bridge.
This is despite the shot-stopper recently signing a new contract with the La Liga club, which doesn’t expire until 2029.
New Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca is a big fan of Jorgensen and sees him as the ideal addition for his style of play.
Football Insider previously revealed that Chelsea prioritised signing a goalkeeper this summer.
Sources say that Maresca wants a goalkeeper capable of playing out from the back and starting attacks from deep inside Chelsea’s own half.
The club only signed Robert Sanchez from Brighton last season, but he will be given the chance to prove himself in pre-season after a mixed debut campaign.
Chelsea target Filip Jorgensen has worked up the ranks at Villarreal
The young goalkeeper has been at Villarreal since 2017 as part of the youth setup, as he went on to play regularly for Villarreal B.
Jorgensen made his La Liga debut at the end of January in 2023 and has since established himself as the club’s number one.
The 22-year-old played 36 times in the Spanish top flight last season, earning six clean sheets.

Even though Jorgensen is Chelsea’s main target this summer, he’s not the only goalkeeper the six-time champions are monitoring.
Football Insider revealed that Real Madrid’s Andriy Lunin is also on the target list.
In other news, Chelsea blocked from re-signing Dominic Solanke.
