Celtic fans were expecting to be celebrating another Premiership title this afternoon, but the party’s on ice for at least a week after a shock 2-1 defeat to Hibs.

And Chris Sutton took to Twitter straight after the game to proclaim, “No party for Celtic today!!”

He went on to say that Hibs were superb and that they’ve got a real possibility of finishing second with a performance like that – delivering a dig to Rangers for good measure.

He also said it was a great advert for the Scottish game.

Celtic’s next game is against bitter rivals Rangers, a title-decider that the authorities were keen to avoid, but will now have to police.

Football Insider verdict:

The only bright side for Celtic fans is they get to win the league by beating Rangers next week now. That would be something they’ll cherish although we’d imagine the majority of fans would just have wanted to seal the title today and celebrate next week. As it is the Old Firm clash will take on massive significance, with the two clubs at the opposite ends of the success spectrum. Celtic and Brendan Rodgers are on a high and Rangers and Graeme Murty are trying to hold things together as their season threatens to implode.
