Chris Sutton makes bold Rangers v Celtic prediction

By Amir Mir

Chris Sutton has made a bold prediction by stating that Rangers will end Celtic’s remarkable winning sequence and restrict their bitter rivals to a draw.

Parkhead manager Rodgers has masterminded his team to a 14 game winning streak leading up to this fixture and it appears inevitable they will romp to the league title for a sixth consecutive season.

Former Bhoys striker Sutton made 127 appearances for the club, scoring 63 goals over a six-year period.

This will be the fourth time that the Glasgow giants will meet, with the Hoops claiming two wins and the Gers winning on the other occasion.

Mark Warburton’s side claimed a penalty shoot-out victory in April during the Scottish League Cup semi-final.

But since the arrival of former Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers to Celtic Park, he has guided the Scottish champions to two wins.

Prior to the game, Sutton provided his verdict on the weekend clash as he explained which team is most under pressure.

“I think there is so much at stake for Rangers,” Sutton told BT Sport. “They cannot lose this game. I’m going to say a draw.”

Northern Irishman Rodgers will have striking duo Leigh Griffiths and summer signing Moussa Dembele amongst his ranks.

Former Fulham man Dembele has scored four goals in two games against Rangers, including hitting a stunning hat-trick during the 5-1 win in September at Celtic Park.

The highly-rated youngster will be looking to add more goals to his tally and widen the gap even further at the top of the SPL table.

Rodgers side currently lead by a mammoth 16 points and could cause further damage on their rivals at the weekend.
