Chris Sutton names the striker he would have liked to have seen Celtic sign this summer

Chris Sutton has simply stated the name of Premier League veteran striker Jermain Defoe when asked who he would have liked to have seen Celtic sign this summer.

The Hoops are currently experiencing some troubles in the front line with stars Moussa Dembele and Leigh Griffiths both injured.

This played a part in the Glasgow giants being held to a 0-0 draw at Parkhead on Wednesday against Rosenborg in the Champions League qualification round.

Outspoken pundit and former striker Sutton has since given his opinion on the forward problems at the club and when one fan asked who he would like to see Brendan Rodgers sign, Sutton responded via his personal Twitter account with the name of Bournemouth’s Defoe.

Defoe is of course out of equation for Celtic now this summer after he made his return to Bournemouth earlier in the month on a free transfer from relegated club Sunderland.

However, the 34-year-old boasts a fine record throughout his career and he has bagged 159 times in 468 matches in total in the Premier League and he shows the quality of player that Sutton wants to see the Hoops sign.

Rodgers’ side dominated Scotland in the last campaign, winning a domestic treble unbeaten and their next goal will be to make progress in the Champions League.

In other Celtic news, Sutton also hit back at Rangers after the Hoops’ draw.
