Chris Sutton unrealistic to demand Celtic must 'try everything' to keep 25-yr-old
Chris Sutton has implored Celtic to agree a new contract with midfielder Tom Rogic, a player that he rates very highly, but he seems to be unrealistic with his demands that seem to indicate that the Hoops should throw money at the player to keep him in Glasgow.
The 25-year-old’s contract will only have 12 months left to run at the end of the season, and as reported by the Daily Record discussions between the player and the club have as yet lead to new agreement.
Sutton believes that the club and the player’s representatives must come together to thrash out a new deal before time runs out.
“It’s not smoke and mirrors with Rogic. He’s the real deal” Sutton said, writing in his column for the Daily Record.
“Just look at the impact he has on the really big games. Key games.

“His tricks and contribution have often stolen the show and Celtic must try everything to stop him suddenly disappearing.”
Rogic has suffered from injury issues this season, but recently returned to the first-team with a bang, scoring in the 3-2 win over Rangers at Ibrox.
Sutton is being a bit over-the-top in his praise of Rogic, as even though he is a very good, and at times, excellent player for the Hoops, he isn’t worth throwing huge money at to keep at the club.
If Rogic wants to stay and sign a new deal then that is superb news for all concerned with Celtic, but if the discussions about a new deal continue in the stalemate which they currently seem to be in, then the Hoops board and Brendan Rodgers will have to consider selling Rogic in the summer.
As no matter how good a player he has been for the Bhoys, they can’t afford to risk losing him on a free transfer next summer.
