Chris Wood and Livramento respond to Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson message
Nottingham Forest’s message to Elliot Anderson caught the attention of the midfielder’s former Newcastle United teammates.
Since the 22-year-old joined Forest from St James’ Park on a £35million deal [The Athletic], he has quickly become an important member of the squad for Nuno Espirito Santo.
He made 42 appearances in his first season at the City Ground, also notching two goals and six assists across all competitions, as the Reds secured European football for the first time in 30 years.
Of course, supporters were left disappointed after missing out on Champions League football, but after Crystal Palace‘s demotion to the Europa Conference League, the Europa League is calling the club’s name.
Anderson can take pride in his impact at the City Ground, with Newcastle fans keen on welcoming the 22-year-old back this summer, and he will continue to be an important member moving forward.

Nottingham Forest welcome Elliot Anderson back
Taking to Instagram (21 July), the official club account wrote: “Welcome back, Elliot Anderson,” who returned to the Forest squad for the first time since England’s successful Euro U21 campaign.
The midfielder featured in all six of the young Lions’ matches at the tournament, even netting against Spain in a 3-1 win and assisting the opening goal of the 2-1 win over the Netherlands.
Nuno Espirito Santo to build around key stars
Football Insider verdict
Forest will be in no mood to lose Anderson anytime soon, especially with Anthony Elanga, Ramon Sosa, and Danilo already finding new clubs ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.
So far, the only incomings have been Jair Cunha and Igor Jesus, who has already been sent a warning ahead of his Forest debut, but there are likely to be more major changes at the City Ground.
Morgan Gibbs-White has returned to training with the Reds, though his future remains up in the air after an “illegal move” from Daniel Levy’s Tottenham for the creative midfielder’s signature.

Many supporters thought that securing European football would help keep the biggest stars at the club, but with Elanga already joining the Magpies on a £55m deal [BBC Sport], that appears not to be the case.
It was an incredible 2024/25 season for all involved at the City Ground, with plenty of ups and downs, but if Evangelos Marinakis waits too long, they could lose all their most important players.
Competing in the Premier League and Europa League will already be difficult enough, but with Gibbs-White likely to leave the club this summer, reinforcements are desperately needed, and quickly.
