Striker poised to snub Leeds contract offer after PL bid - reports
By Danny Wright
Chris Wood is poised to snub the chance at signing a three-year contract extension at Leeds, according to a report.
The Daily Star claims that the 25-year-old striker “has his heart set” on joining Burnley in light of a series of bids being made from the Premier League side who look desperate to replace Andre Gray.
Sky Sports News reported on their official Twitter account on Friday afternoon that Leeds had entered fresh talks in the hope that Wood will make a bold statement about his future at Elland Road.
Yorkshire Evening Post correspondent Phil Hay claimed on his personal Twitter account earlier this week that the Clarets had two bids knocked back by Leeds, but it now seems like the in-demand striker has made his emphatic decision.
The Daily Star reports that Burnley have made an offer of £12million for the former Leicester and West Brom forward, but Leeds are said to want £20million.

However it is understood that Burnley will not spend more than £15million and are now readying a “take-it-or-leave-it” offer to finally land their man.
Wood scored 30 goals across all competitions for the Whites last season and has already got the new campaign off to a band by finding the net against Bolton on the opening day.
Football Insider Verdict
This is disastrous news for Leeds. Their hopes of battling for promotion this season will surely be ruined if the New Zealand international was to leave Elland Road. It seems that Andrea Radrizzani and Thomas Christiansen have done all they can possibly do to try and convince the striker that he is best off staying in West Yorkshire, but ultimately it seems that his head has been turned by the prospect of Premier League football. Leeds shouldn’t budge from their £20million asking price. Just because Burnley won’t pay it doesn’t mean that someone else won’t, especially after this latest revelation.
In other Leeds news, a defender has confirmed that he has agreed to sign for the Whites.
