Christian Eriksen delivers Tottenham verdict on title chances
By Dominic Toner
Tottenham midfielder Christian Eriksen believes their victory against Crystal Palace proves they are still in the title race.
The 25-year-old scored the winner in a narrow 1-0 away win at Selhurst Park and kept the pressure on Premier League leaders Chelsea.
Spurs are now four points adrift of the Blues and have five games remaining to try overturn the deficit.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side turn their attention to Arsenal at the weekend in their next game, while Chelsea face a difficult test away to Everton.
Eriksen feels that the title race is still on and that his side just need to continue in the same form.

“Yes, it was a very big goal. We showed we’re still in it,” Eriksen said, as quoted by Sky Sports. “We have to focus on ourselves, and of course Chelsea have to lose some points, but that was our chance to keep going and we took it.
“That result gives us a confidence boost for the last five games. We have to keep going, focus on ourselves and see where it ends.”
Spurs have won their last eight consecutive league games and have managed to narrow the gap to champions-elect Chelsea.
However, it will not be an easy cruise to the title for Antonio Conte’s side and they are fully aware of their London rivals closely breathing behind them.
Chelsea have slightly the more favourable fixtures on paper remaining, but the competitiveness of the top-flight means there are surely going to be some shocks thrown up.
Eriksen is confident his team can continue in the same manner and the attacking midfielder has been crucial under Pochettino.
He has made 44 appearances across all competitions this season, scoring 12 goals and supplying 20 assists in return.
