'Clown', 'Jesus Christ' – Man United fans do not want to see this player again after display v Huddersfield
Man United eased past Huddersfield in the fifth round of the FA Cup but fans think it’s no thanks to their centre-back Chris Smalling.
United got off to a fast start after Romelu Lukaku scored in just the third minute of the game.
And they probably should have had a second but Juan Mata’s goal was disallowed by a controversial VAR decision.
The official decision was that Mata’s knee was offside but it wasn’t clear and the original images shown suffered from wobbly lines that were useless when trying to make a decision.
It might have come back to haunt Huddersfield but they couldn’t break down the United defence and Mourinho’s men go into the hat for the quarter-final draw.
However, despite the clean sheet, United fans were tearing their hair out over the display of centre-back Chris Smalling.
One fan called him a clown and the overriding consensus was that fans aren’t sure why he’s still getting picked.
Here are the best reactions from disgruntled Man United fans:
Lindeloff looks to be settled more, calmer on the ball. Needs to start with bailly in the premier league to cement a partnership. Smalling a clown and jones a back up option

#HUDMUN .. Can we swap Smalling for Jonny Evans asap? Bonus; we know that, in an emergency, Jonny could definitely drive the team bus …
