Cole Palmer and Jadon Sancho respond as Noni Madueke bids farewell to Chelsea fans

Chelsea players past and present were quick to respond to Noni Madueke’s emotional farewell message to supporters.

Enzo Maresca’s side have undergone significant changes this summer, with several high-profile arrivals and departures reshaping the squad.

Goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic has joined Bournemouth on a permanent deal, while Kepa Arrizabalaga has completed a move to Arsenal. Chelsea have also opted against making Jadon Sancho’s loan deal permanent, meaning he too has departed.

In terms of additions, Chelsea have strengthened their attacking line with the signings of Joao Pedro, Liam Delap and Jamie Bynoe-Gittens.

With the arrival of fresh talent in forward areas, Madueke’s place in the pecking order appeared to be under threat, and the winger has now sealed a move away from Stamford Bridge. His farewell message drew plenty of reaction, as the club and its players reflected on his time in West London.

Chelsea and Premier League stars react as Noni Madueke seals Arsenal move

Madueke officially joined Arsenal on 18 July in a deal worth £52 million, earning Chelsea a sizeable profit after signing him for just under £30 million in January 2023.

The winger posted a farewell video on Instagram following the announcement, directed at his teammates, the fans, and manager Enzo Maresca.

He described it as a “privilege” to play under Maresca and thanked supporters, saying: “Thank you for the love, the praise and also the criticism, I appreciate it all.”

The post was met with an outpouring of support from current and former teammates, including Cole Palmer who commented, “Good luck my boy” while Levi Colwill responded with a heart emoji. Sancho, Trevoh Chalobah, and Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers also liked the post.

Since arriving at Stamford Bridge, the 23-year-old showed flashes of his potential, scoring 11 goals last season. However, Football Insider reported earlier this summer that Chelsea were open to offers for Madueke, and Arsenal have now made their move to strengthen Mikel Arteta’s forward options.

Despite his heartfelt message, some Chelsea fans had already called for Madueke’s departure earlier in the season due to inconsistent performances, and now their wish has been granted.

Madueke may not be the only player to leave the side as Football Insider revealed that Nicolas Jackson is unhappy at Chelsea.

The club’s transfer activity this summer has led to increased competition for starting places in attack and the striker was left on the bench for the final of the Club World Cup.

Aston Villa and Manchester United have both reportedly expressed interest in Jackson, though it remains to be seen whether either club will table a serious offer.
