Former Aston Villa player Stan Collymore has branded his old club’s performance against Reading as “garbage” after they suffered consecutive defeats in the Championship.
Steve Bruce’s side lost 2-1 at the Madejski Stadium on Tuesday evening which means that they have failed to win a single league match of the new season.
Reading were deserved winners as they dominated throughout the 90 minutes and scored through an own goal from Aston Villa new boy Glenn Whelan and Modou Barrow.
Conor Hourihane managed to pull back a late consolation for the visitors but the defeat leaves Villa in the relegation zone with three matches played.
The outspoken Collymore was clearly not pleased with Villa’s display and he posted his thoughts on his personal Twitter account straight after the game.
“To every Villa player, whatever your CV, that’s garbage” he said after showing stats from the match, using one word to sum up the entire performance.

Villa endured a similar start to the Championship campaign last season where they only managed to pick up one victory in their first 12 matches.
Former boss Roberto di Matteo was sacked from his post due to their extremely disappointing start last season and Bruce will be hopeful that he does not face the same fate this time around.
The Midlands club have the chance to bounce back when they welcome Norwich City to Villa Park this weekend.
In other Aston Villa news, this Villa midfielder has made the switch to one one of their league rivals.
