Collymore: This Tottenham duo are my favourite top-flight players

By Amir Mir

Stan Collymore has revealed that Tottenham duo Dele Alli and Mousa Dembele are his favourite top-flight players.

The former Liverpool striker was raving about Manchester City right-back Pablo Zabaleta, who will be leaving his club in the summer.

The two-time Premier League winners contract expires at the end of June and Collymore stated that he has “loved watching him” play.

Zabaleta moved to England in 2008 and has since won two league cups, one FA Cup and two Premier League titles.

However, Collymore stated that Alli and Dembele have now become his favourite players as he was still full of praise for Zabaleta.

“I’ve loved watching him at the Etihad and, as regular readers will know, for a time he was my favourite top-flight player,” Collymore wrote in his Mirror column.

“Mousa Dembele then Dele Alli might have replaced him in my affections but I’m still not sure there has been a more perfect foreign import.”

During his time in Manchester, Zabaleta has played 332 matches in all competitions, scoring 11 goals and supplying 28 assists during his time at the club.

By contrast, attacking midfielder Alli is at the start of his career, with the PFA Young Player of the Year, making 94 appearances for Spurs.

During those matches, the highly-rated youngster has scored an impressive 31 goals from midfield and supplied 22 assists.

Over the course of the season, Alli has scored 17 goals from his 35 Premier League matches as he has the chance to hit the 20-goal mark.

Two matches of the season remain for the north London club, with a trip to Leicester City on Thursday and already-relegated Hull on the last day of the season awaiting them.
