Commons: Former Chelsea quartet the secret behind Rodgers success at Celtic
By John Reid
Former Celtic star Kris Commons has praised Brendan Rodgers for the way he has managed to transform the careers of so many of his players at Celtic Park.
Writing in the Scottish Daily Mail, Commons detailed a meeting Rodgers held with the players early in his time at the club, where he disclosed that the Celtic boss had picked up some methods from his time as a coach at Chelsea:
“He told me the importance of his time at Chelsea watching top class professionals, who all demanded extra work.
“World Cup winners wanted to improve every single day and that attitude made a mark on Brendan
“He mentioned Andriy Shevchenko, Frank Lampard, Joe Cole, John Terry — great players who all worked tirelessly on their game at all times.

“He gives you all the tools to succeed but he can’t do it all for you. He tells his players: ‘It comes from within’.”
Commons left Celtic without featuring for the first team last season but he doesn’t seem to have held a grudge against the Celtic boss.
Celtic set a new British record of 63 domestic games with a defeat in Saturday’s 4-0 win over St Johnstone.
The club are currently three points clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership, in the Betfred Cup Final against Motherwell and on the verge of clinching Europa League football after Christmas, as Brendan Rodgers looks set to have another very successful season.
