‘Complete incompetence’ – Nottingham Forest fans absolutely furious as summer signing already heads for exit
Nottingham Forest are getting the business done early in January, but to the frustration of the match-going fans at the City Ground.
That is because, despite Forest being in the Premier League relegation battle, there are more links emerging surrounding players’ exits rather than reinforcements for Sean Dyche.
Forest have no intentions of selling Elliot Anderson, currently the club’s most valuable asset, but the likes of Murillo, James McAtee, and Morato could all be heading for the exit doors.
Given the current situation, supporters would have expected a quick start to the January transfer window, though big-name outgoings would not have been top of the list of wants this month.
Arnaud Kalimuendo has been linked with an exit over the last few weeks, having struggled for game time under Dyche and Ange Postecoglou, and that is now set to become a reality.
Arnaud Kalimuendo already heading for Nottingham Forest exit
According to Florian Plettenberg (2 January), Kalimuendo’s move to Eintracht Frankfurt is already a “done deal,” with the loan deal until the end of the season containing an option to buy.
Instantly reacting to the surprise news, one fan criticised the recruitment team’s “complete incompetence” when it comes to transfers, with another slamming the “total mess” at the City Ground.
It is fair to say that supporters are furious with the news of the Frenchman’s exit, just six months on from his £26million arrival, with no news on a potential move for Taiwo Awoniyi.
- @fm_throwing: “Only Forest can sign a PROPER striker and then get rid because they employ a manager who can’t utilise him. 1 step forwards, 2 steps back.”
- @sdodhy01: “With option to buy? WTF is happening to my club? Either sell him or keep him. He deserves a chance!!!! FFS.”
- @Waggy158: “Toothless Dyche. 100x times better than Taiwo – what a nightmare.”
Sean Dyche was surely expecting this from the Eintracht Frankfurt-bound star
Dyche clearly had a dig at the striker following the defeat to Everton, making comments about the players who don’t get a look-in due to how they perform in training.
While the manager did not talk specifically about the 23-year-old, Forest supporters were adamant that the quotes were directed at him, having chosen Awoniyi to come on instead.
Kalimuendo has two goals in the Europa League, but even with his form in the competition, he has yet to make a start in the Premier League, only being given 82 minutes off the bench.
The match-going fans have been left utterly baffled by the treatment of the player. If there is nothing else going on behind the scenes, it will remain a mystery at the City Ground.
