A blockbuster transfer deal involving Alfredo Morelos and Martin Skrtel is unlikely to happen, according to Rangers club insiders.
The Rangers Observer, which has a good track record on transfer stories coming out of Ibrox, has described reports of any deal as ‘completely false’.
Reports circulating that suggest a swap deal involving Skrtel and cash for Alfredo Morelos are completely false.

The alleged deal, which would have involved Fenerbache giving the Gers both cash and Skrtel in exchange for Morelos was first reported by Turkish newspaper Yeniakit.
Morelos was one of the Gers star players last season with 18 goals in 43 appearances for the Light Blues.
Football Insider verdict
Rangers fans will be breathing a sigh of relief if the claims by the club insiders are correct. The reported deal seemed very odd, and wouldn’t have been of any benefit to the Gers at all. Whilst Martin Skrtel would no doubt have been a good addition to the Gers squad – and indeed, Steven Gerrard did want to sign him earlier this summer before the deal fell through – a swap deal involving Alfredo Morelos and an unspecified sum of money just doesn’t seem to suit the Gers at all. If Morelos does leave the Ibrox side you would imagine that they would be looking for a straight transfer fee for the player, and not some convoluted swap deal. Of course, Gerrard might want to keep Morelos at Ibrox and make him the main man going forward next season for the Gers. That will be decided in due course, but until then Morelos won’t be going anywhere, especially not in some swap deal.
