'We would miss him' – Klopp confirms Liverpool attacker to stay at club in January
Liverpool FC have confirmed today that the impressive Ben Woodburn is not going to leave the club this January.
The 18-year-old has been heavily sought after this month, as many clubs wanted him on a temporary basis, yet Klopp does not think there is any rush to send him out.
The Reds announced the news via their official website this afternoon.
Liverpool cite Woodburn’s influence on the team as a squad rotation player as a reason they do not want to loan him out.
The 18-year-old has played once this term for the Reds, featuring in the 2-0 defeat in the EFL Cup back in September, however he has played for Wales five times, scoring once.
Speaking exclusively to the club website, Klopp stated that he would miss the services of Woodburn should he leave on loan,
“In all the sessions he is improving constantly. That we think we would miss him in our training group – with this quality squad – is maybe the biggest compliment you can give to him.”
It is unlikely that the forward is to see much more game time at Anfield this season, but it is evident that Klopp sees a future for the Wales international at Liverpool.
In other Liverpool news, the Reds seem to have missed out on their top January transfer target, as he agrees terms with another Club.
