Mousa Dembele will become the third Tottenham player in the space of 10 days to undergo surgery on an injury, it has been confirmed.
Spurs announced on their official website on Monday that the central midfielder, 29, is to go under the knife in a bid to cure a persistent foot injury.
The Premier League club announced that the “planned procedure” will take place this week and the intention is for the Belgium international to return in time for pre-season.
Dembele is the third Spurs player to undergo an operation in recent days, following left-back Danny Rose (knee) and attacking midfielder Erik Lamela (hip).
Dembele has been used sparingly in the final weeks of the season and was a 73rd minute substitute on Sunday as Tottenham destroyed Hull City 7-1 in the Premier League.
His name was also a notable omission from the 22-man Spurs squad announced on Monday for their post-season friendly against Hong Kong on Friday night.
Manager Mauricio Pochettino has named a virtually full-strength squad for the long-haul trip to the Far East.
