Lucas Leiva has been recalled to the Liverpool side for Thursday night’s Europa League clash against Augsburg.

The midfielder is set to play in central defence alongside Mamadou Sakho after being selected ahead of Kolo Toure, who is on the substitute’s bench.

It is the only change from the Liverpool team that beat Aston Villa 6-0 in the Premier League and then drew 0-0 in the first leg of the last-32 Europa League tie against Augsburg four days later.

Daniel Sturridge and Philippe Coutinho both start for the third consecutive match as Jurgen Klopp selects an attack-minded team that also includes Roberto Firmino.

The likelihood is that veteran defender Toure has been given a breather ahead of Sunday’s League Cup final against his former club Manchester City.
