Confirmed Everton line-up v Manchester City: Sigurdsson on the bench

By Harry Sykes

Ronald Koeman has announced his starting XI to take on Man City at the Etihad in the Premier League on Monday night.

His team have got off to a fantastic start so far this season, with three wins in the Europa League and one in the Premier League, without conceding a goal.

Everton won their first league game of the season last weekend when they beat Stoke City 1-0, with returning hero Wayne Rooney getting the all-important goal on his return to Goodison.

He starts again on Monday evening, but all Everton eyes will be on new signing Gylfi Sigurdsson, who finally completed his long-awaited move from Swansea in time to play tonight.

He has to make do with a place on the bench though.

Elsewhere the team is Jordan Pickford in goal, with Michael Keane, Ashley Williams, Phil Jagielka and Mason Holgate in defence.

Morgan Schneidlerlin, Idrissa Gueye, Leighton Baines, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Tom Davies make up the starting XI.

The team was announced on the official Sky Sports Football app ahead of the 8pm kick-off.

It was later confirmed on the official Everton twitter account.

Everton haven’t let a goal in this season, but manager Koeman knows it will be a tougher test tonight.

Talking in the Guardian he said his team would need to produce a miraculous performance to keep out one of the favourites for the title.

Man City also got off to a flawless start in their Premier League campaign, beating PL new boys Brighton 2-0, and boast some frightening attacking talent.

In other Everton news, the Toffees are in talks with a Premier League side for this striker deal.
