Newcastle United have secured a deal with Blackpool to extend the loan of midfielder Sean Longstaff until the end of the season.
The Magpies confirmed news of the 20-year-old’s new deal with the Tangerines via both their official Twitter account and their official website, revealing his previous deal was set to come to an end this weekend.

The club had originally agreed over summer that the promising central midfielder, who can also operate in an attacking role, would spend the first half of the campaign at Bloomfield Road, with Saturday’s clash against Oxford United set to be his final appearance before returning to Tyneside.
However, with five goals and five assists to his name in 22 League One appearances, Blackpool moved for, and Newcastle green lighted, his temporary exit from St James’ Park to be extended until the summer, when his current deal with the Magpies runs out.
Football Insider verdict
Newcastle have not missed many, if any, of their players out on loan, and Longstaff’s spell was always likely to continue if Blackpool wanted to keep him at the club. He needs be getting as much game time as possible with his contract running out, in order to either earn a new contract with the Magpies or put himself on display for other clubs to take notice. His goal scoring record is impressive and he has shown he can contribute to the team’s efforts with a further five assists. Does he have what it takes to step up to the next level? That awaits to be seen, but for now, he will continue to strut his stuff in League One.
