Rangers mainstay confirms agreement over contract, talks planned for summer

Rangers goalkeeper Wes Foderingham has confirmed talks are planned with the Ibrox giants over a new contract at the end of the season.
Foderingham signed a one-year extension in September to keep him at Ibrox until 2020 after his fantastic form for the Gers in the last few seasons.
The former Swindon star has been a mainstay in the Gers starting XI since his arrival in 2015 and has been in impressive form this season as the Gers look to lift their first major trophy in seven years.
The 27-year-old revealed he has an agreement with the club that is looked at ever summer and confirmed talks were due to take place at the end of the season.
“I signed an extension in the summer and I think it’s an agreement between myself and the club where we look at it where we are at the end of each season so I think that’ll be talked about at the end of the season,” Foderingham said in a video shared on the club’s YouTube channel.

Foderingham has been the undisputed number one since arriving at Ibrox and has fought off challenges from Cammy Bell, Matt Gilks and Jak Alnwick to keep the gloves.
The former Swindon number one has made 124 appearances for the Gers and lifted the Scottish Championship and Scottish Challenge Cup but is yet to get his hands on a major trophy for the Light Blues.
The 27-year-old recorded a clean sheet in Saturday’s 2-0 win over Hearts at Ibrox in the Scottish Premiership as Graeme Murty’s side opened up a three-point lead on third-placed Aberdeen in the table and closed, temporarily, to six points behind Celtic.
Football Insider verdict
Rangers fans will be delighted talks are in the pipeline for Foderingham to extend his stay at Ibrox. The 27-year-old has been a fantastic signing and, alongside James Tavernier, is the best signing Mark Warburton made during his time as manager. Foderingham could probably do with a bit more competition for a starting place with Jak Alnwick a solid enough back-up but very much a number two goalkeeper just now. Still has areas to improve his overall game but the goalkeeper is as good as any in Scotland and will likely continue to be Rangers number one for a few years to come.
In other Rangers news, controversial TalkSport host Adrian Durham has claimed that this key Celtic man must quit Parkhead at the end of the season because of the Light Blues.
