Aston Villa owner Tony Xia has named Tracy Gu as a new director of the Championship side, as club legend Brian Little remains on as an advisor.

The Birmingham Mail are reporting that Gu is a trusted associate of Villa’s new owner and will supply her expertise as a business advisor for the Championship club.

Gu has never worked in football before, but the high-flying businesswoman will supply her expertise in times ahead.

Chris Samuelson, who played an important role in the Chinese Tycoon’s £79 million purchase of the club, is no longer listed as director, but it is reported that he will still play a part.

The Midlands club already have highly experienced Keith Wyness as chief executive aand the former Everton CEO will continue the day-to-day running of the club, despite Gu’s appointment.

Villa supporters will be pleased to hear that club legend and former manager Brian Little will remain as an advisor to the club, as Xia paints the final picture of the new Villa board.

Xia’s first aim as owner will be to win instant promotion with the club as manager Roberto Di Matteo is given the task to steer the club to success.
