Final season: Pellegrini will step down as manager in the summer

West Ham have announced two huge new signings, welcoming French centre-back Issa Diop and goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianksi to the London Stadium.

Issa Diop was the first player to join and the 21-year-old was announced on the official West Ham Twitter page on Tuesday evening.

He was followed to East London by Swansea goalkeeper Lucasz Fabianski who was announced on Wednesday morning.

Football Insider verdict:

Manuel Pellegrini has wasted no time in stamping his authority on the West Ham squad and these two signings are both big upgrades. Former Arsenal keeper Fabianski was a mainstay for Swansea last season, making 38 appearances for his side. He’s currently out at the World Cup in Russia with Poland, although he was only on the bench for the loss they suffered against Senegal. The 33-year-old signed on a three-year deal for an undisclosed fee – he had a year left on his Swansea contract so there’s every chance Pellegrini got himself a bargain. Dip was a wanted man and the towering 6ft 4in player is powerful, fast and should be a massive player in the Premier League. His signing is more of a coup and he definitely fits the Pellegrini mould, but both players will be welcomed by West Ham fans and there’ll be more to come this summer. It’s an exciting time for Hammers fans.
