Conor Hourihane delivers Twitter verdict on Aston Villa improvement

By Danny Wright

Conor Hourihane has praised Aston Villa for their improvement in recent weeks after their latest win against Sheffield Wednesday.

Jonathan Kodjia scored in each half as Villa cruised to a 2-0 victory over a visiting side that were reduced to 10 men early in the second period.

The 26-year-old completed the entire 90 minutes of the game which ended up being Villa’s fourth win in five games.

“Another big win against a good side shows how far we have come,” said Hourihane on his personal Twitter account.

The Irish central midfielder arrived at Villa Park in January for £3million from Barnsley.

He was captain of the Oakwell club and enjoyed a brilliant first half of the season, scoring six goals in 25 league games as well as assisting a further 12 goals for his teammates.

Hourihane scored his first goal in the claret and blue of Aston Villa when he found the net in the 2-0 win over struggling Bristol City in February and has made a total of nine appearances for the West Midlands club since his winter switch.

The ex-Barnsley captain will now be hoping that his new side can continue their upward trend when they travel to the DW Stadium to take on Wigan in their next Championship fixture.

Villa are now up to 12th thanks to the three points they picked up on Saturday.
