Conor Hourihane sends message to Aston Villa fans after win against Rotherham

By Amir Mir

Conor Hourihane has hailed the Aston Villa supporters and expressed his delight at the club securing three wins from three games.

Steve Bruce’s side beat Rotherham 2-0 on Saturday afternoon to add to their wins against Bristol City on Tuesday night and Derby County last Saturday.

Midfielder Hourihane played a part in two of those wins, scoring against Bristol City and being at the heartbeat of their success during the three points against the Millers.

After a frustrating first half display from the away team, they opened their account when Will Vaulks put them ball into his own net before Jonathan Kodjia sealed all three points late on.

Hourihane played the full match and then posted this message to supporters to express his happiness at their win.

“Three in a row and three clean sheets,” Hourihane wrote on his personal Twitter account. “Love it boys. Fans were top class from start to finish. Safe journey home and on to Tuesday.”

Playmaker Hourihane was one of eight players brought to the club during the January transfer window to try and change their fortunes around.

Five defeats in five league games followed after his arrival which saw Bruce come under fire from supporters.

Now, they have managed to turn that bad form around and they will be put to the test against promotion chasers Huddersfield Town on Tuesday night.

David Wagner has guided the Yorkshire club to third in the table with a few more wins almost guaranteeing them a top six finish.

However, the Terriers go into that match having suffered a 3-1 home defeat at the hands of leaders Newcastle on Saturday evening.

In other Aston Villa news, this inconsistent 29-year-old could be sold by Steve Bruce.
