Contact made: Everton make approach for international striker (not Josh King) – report
By Danny Wright
Everton have contacted La Liga side Deportivo La Coruna about the availability of striker Florin Andone, according to a report.
The Sun claims that the Toffees are still on the desperate lookout for a replacement for Romelu Lukaku and have deployed scouts across Europe to try and find their next source of goals.
Romania international Andone, 24, appears to be the latest target of the Merseyside club, who have also had their eye on Bournemouth forward Josh King.
It is understood that Everton have now approached Deportivo with a view to potentially snapping up Andone in January.
The international striker has scored just one goal in his opening five games of the season while last term he found the net 12 times in 39 appearances across all competitions.
The Sun adds that Everton are still looking to sell Oumar Niasse when the transfer window re-opens even though he proved to be their man of the hour on Saturday when he bagged a brace in the 2-1 comeback win over Bournemouth after King opened the scoring.
Football Insider Verdict
Everton can’t afford to cut any corners in their pursuit of finding a proven goalscorer who can lead the club back towards the European spots in the Premier League. It’s hard to judge whether Sandro Ramirez can already be that man. They’ve had a tough start to the season playing most of the big-boys, which is why they are where they are. Sandro may come alive against some of the lesser teams once he adapts to life in England, but ultimately they need a proven source of goals if that doesn’t work. Andone simply isn’t that. His record for club and country is not great and there are definitely better options out there.
In other Everton news, the Toffees have also made an approach for this Champions League goalscorer.
