Conundrum continues as Celtic star once again flatters to deceive

Most of the talk in the aftermath of Celtic’s 3-2 Scottish Cup victory over Partick Thistle has been about James Forrest’s superb hat-trick, and the awful performance of Jozo Simunovic.
Lost in all the talk about those two players was that Moussa Dembele turned in yet another sub-standard performance up-front.
His best moment of the match was in the opening 60 seconds, when his turn and shot fell into the path of Forrest, who finished in style for the first of his three goals.
After that though, for most of the game he was a non-event. He tried hard but nothing seemed to come off, with a late shot just past the post.
The worry for the 21-year-old will be that if he is unable to capture his form of last season he will never win a dream move to the Premier League, while the real concern for Celtic is that they have a player who is chronically out of form.
It seems highly likely that in the continued injury absence of Leigh Griffiths, Dembele will start against Zenit in the upcoming Europa League last 32 tie.
For the Bhoys to have any chance of defeating the Russian side Dembele’s performances will have to improve massively from what has been on display recently.
