Coutinho and Klopp at loggerheads for past six months at Liverpool - Sky journalist

By Harry Sykes

Philippe Coutinho has been at loggerheads with Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool for the past six months, according to a Sky journalist.

Kaveh Solkehol reported on his personal Twitter account on Friday evening that Coutinho’s relationship with Klopp has disintegrated since the final months of last season.

Solkehol cited a family member of the Brazilian playmaker as saying that the player had grown “frustrated” at his role in the team and was “aggrieved” at the way he had been treated by his manager.

The problems between the pair are said to have dated back “six months” to February.

The update from the reliable Sky Sports News reporter came at the end of a day of drama behind the scenes at Anfield.

Liverpool owners Fenway Sports Group released a statement on Friday morning in which they insisted that “no offers will be considered” for Coutinho this summer.

The 25-year-old then responded by handing in an official transfer request in a bid to force through a move to Barcelona.

It has been widely reported that Liverpool have so far rejected two bids from the Spanish giants for the Brazil international, with the latest offer worth up to £90.4million.

Klopp confirmed Coutinho will miss the game against Watford through injury and is doubtful for the Champions League first-leg qualifier against Hoffenheim in midweek.
