Redknapp: Liverpool will have great chance of winning title if this duo at Anfield in 17/18

Liverpool will have a “great chance” of winning the Premier League title this season if they sign Virgil van Dijk and hang on to Philippe Coutinho.
That is the verdict of high-profile pundit Jamie Redknapp as he named Van Dijk in a Mail column as one of his 10 players to watch during the 2017-18 Premier League campaign.
The Sky Sports pundit and former Liverpool midfielder believes the giant centre-back will eventually put an end to his drawn-out battle to quit Southampton by moving to Anfield by the transfer window cut-off.
Redknapp is convinced the Holland international will transform the defence in Jurgen Klopp’s side, but insisted that he must be joined by Coutinho in the starting line-up for them to be considered genuine title challengers.
“This will be a massive year for Van Dijk,” Redknapp wrote in the Mail. “He is the heir to Vincent Kompany as the Premier League’s best centre back and the time is right for him to leave Southampton.

“Chelsea and Liverpool are in the hunt for him and while I think he’ll choose Anfield, I can’t wait to see where he goes.
“If Liverpool do sign him and manage to keep hold of Philippe Coutinho, Jurgen Klopp’s side would have a great chance of winning the title.”
Barcelona tabled a £90million bid for Coutinho that was rejected earlier this week, as Liverpool attempt to fend off interest in their star playmaker.
It has been widely reported that Van Dijk still has his heart set on a move to Anfield despite competing interest from Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester City.
He has handed in a transfer request at St Mary’s Stadium in an attempt to leave the side he joined from Celtic in the summer of 2015.
Van Dijk, who is widely regarded as one of the outstanding players in his position in the Premier League, signed a new Saints contract last summer that runs until the summer of 2022.
