Sources: Coventry City in advanced talks to sign Brighton star Gyokeres
Coventry City are in advanced talks to sign Brighton striker Viktor Gyokeres on a permanent deal, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.
He spent the second half of last season on loan at Coventry after spending the first half of the campaign at Swansea City.
A Brighton source has told Football Insider that the club have given the green light for Gyokeres to leave as he is well down the pecking order.
The 23-year-old last signed a new deal at the Amex in 2019 and is under contract until next summer.
In April, Coventry boss Robins hailed the Swede’s “desire and mentality” and admitted he would “100 per cent” consider him for a permanent switch.
His three goals in 19 matches helped the Sky Blues to a creditable mid-table finish following their promotion from League One in the previous campaign.

Gyokeres has been capped twice and scored one goal for Sweden.
But he has not featured for the national team since 2019 and has found game time at Brighton similarly hard to come by.
Gyokeres featured three times for the Seagulls in last season’s League Cup campaign.
He scored his first and only goal for the club in a 4-0 win over Portsmouth in that competition last September.
The bulk of his football since he arrived on the south coast from Swedish outfit IF Brommapojkarna in 2017 has come during his time out on loan.
He spent the 2019-20 season with St. Pauli in the German second-tier where he netted seven times in 26 league appearances.
Before switching to Coventry in January, Gyokeres made 11 Championship appearances in his other loan spell with Swansea.
