Craig Gordon: This exceptional Celtic player has improved this season
By Amir Mir
Craig Gordon has hailed the “exceptional” and “improved” Stuart Armstrong after the Celtic midfielder produced a stunning debut performance for Scotland on Sunday.
The 24-year-old was at the heart of his countries 1-0 win over Slovenia during an important World Cup qualifier at Hampden.
The Bhoys midfielder dictated play, caused havoc on the opposition defence and was duly rewarded two minutes from time when his pass was fired home by substitute Chris Martin.
Armstrong’s call-up to the national set-up was because of a number of outstanding displays for his club side this season.
His teammate and Bhoys goalkeeper Gordon had this to say about the player as posted by the club’s official Twitter account.

Over the course of the season, Armstrong has played 37 games in all competitions for his side, scoring 12 goals from the middle of the park and supplying seven assists.
He has found the back of the net on 11 occasions in the Scottish Premiership and he will be looking to continue his impressive run at Hearts at the weekend.
Armstrong has scored three goals in his last three matches and has the opportunity to help his side clinch the title on Sunday.
Furthermore, he will be looking to play his part in a team that is hoping to remain unbeaten throughout the domestic campaign.
