Crysencio Summerville sends message to ex-Leeds teammate after deal agreed

Crysencio Summerville took to social media to pay tribute to ex-Leeds United captain Liam Cooper as he bid farewell to the club after completing a move to CSKA Sofia.

Football Insider revealed (September 10) that the 33-year-old centre-back had agreed to join the Bulgarian side after first revealing last week that talks had got underway.

Summerville, 22, who ended last season as Leeds’ top goalscorer and the Championship Player of the Year, also departed the West Yorkshire club this summer, signing for Premier League West Ham.

Leeds had their squad picked apart after their failure to secure promotion back to the Premier League last season, with 19 first-team players shown the exit door at Elland Road.

The left-winger has only played 21 minutes across three Premier League games for West Ham since making the £25m plus add-ons move to East London.

Summerville did, however, start in their 1-0 League Cup win over Bournemouth before being substituted in the 74th minute with only 15 accurate passes to his name.

Cooper took to Instagram to say thanks to the club, fans, and teammates he played with during his career at Leeds United.

Veteran defender Cooper made 284 appearances for Leeds during his nearly ten years at Elland Road, first being made captain back in 2014.

It’s been a tricky start to the season for Cooper’s new club as they sit second from bottom after six games.
