Curtis Jones reacts to Anthony Gordon’s new message after Liverpool plot move

Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones may have fuelled speculation after reacting to Anthony Gordon’s latest message, as uncertainty continues to surround the Newcastle winger’s future.

Gordon endured a difficult end to last season at St James’ Park, losing his place in the starting XI to the in-form Harvey Barnes.

Barnes was selected in each of Newcastle’s final 11 Premier League matches, with Gordon reduced to a rotational role, raising fresh questions about his long-term place in the squad.

Football Insider exclusively revealed on 10 July that Liverpool are plotting a move for Gordon later in the summer window.

With Luis Diaz still pushing for a switch to Bayern Munich, the Reds could turn to the former Everton man, who has long been on their radar, as a potential replacement.

Despite the speculation surrounding his future, Gordon shared an update with supporters to show where his current focus lies.

While his Newcastle future remains uncertain, Gordon shared an update from pre-season training, signalling that, for now, his focus remains firmly on Tyneside.

The winger posted a photo with the simple caption: “Back with the boys” followed by a heart emoji.

His post drew plenty of attention with summer signing Anthony Elanga replying with a GIF, while Bruno Guimaraes, Dominic Solanke, and Joe Willock were among those who liked the post.

One reaction that may have raised eyebrows came from Liverpool midfielder Jones, especially amid ongoing rumours linking him with a move to Anfield.

Meanwhile, former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson told Football Insider that Liverpool are expected to move for Gordon, but only if Diaz leaves the club. With Diaz keen on a transfer away, a move for Gordon may only materialise once that situation is resolved.

Despite falling out of favour at the end of last season, the winger still enjoyed a solid campaign, registering nine goals and seven assists in 42 appearances across all competitions.

Newcastle suffer transfer frustration over James Trafford

As speculation grows around potential outgoings, Newcastle are also facing hurdles in their summer recruitment plans.

Football Insider revealed that top target James Trafford is now leaning towards a return to Manchester City after the Premier League champions reignited their interest.

It’s another setback for Eddie Howe, who has already seen other targets choose rival clubs. Joao Pedro opted for Chelsea, and Bryan Mbeumo had his heart set on a move to Manchester United.

If Trafford also chooses to go elsewhere, it would be a significant blow to Newcastle’s transfer strategy, especially with the new season fast approaching.
