Curtis Jones reacts to Anthony Gordon’s update away from Newcastle

Anthony Gordon sent an update away from Newcastle to supporters amid speculation surrounding a Liverpool move.

Gordon endured a frustrating end to the season at St James’ Park, with Eddie Howe opting to start Harvey Barnes on the left wing during the run-in.

His future has been the subject of continued speculation, and Football Insider exclusively revealed on 10 July that Liverpool are plotting a late move to bring Gordon to Anfield.

The Magpies value the winger at £100 million  and Newcastle fans have called for Gordon to be sold if Liverpool reach that figure.

With rumours surrounding his situation mounting, the winger may have added fuel to the fire with a recent post shared during his time away from the club.

Curtis Jones fuels Anthony Gordon rumours amid fresh update

Newcastle winger Gordon shared a set of training photos on Instagram this week as he continues individual work ahead of the new season.

The post was well received by a number of Premier League players, with the likes of Phil Foden and James Maddison among those who left a like.

Fans may have noticed Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones also dropped a like on the post, fuelling speculation about a potential move.

Liverpool remain long-time admirers of Gordon, and while there were concerns earlier in the summer over Newcastle’s need to comply with financial regulations, their return to the Champions League has eased that pressure.

Despite falling out of favour towards the end of the campaign, Gordon still managed nine goals and seven assists in 42 appearances across all competitions last season.

While speculation continues over a potential exit for Gordon, the club are also pressing ahead with incoming business.

After Newcastle announced the signing of Anthony Elanga, they are now looking at closing in on a long-term target in James Trafford.

Football Insider revealed Newcastle are preparing a new bid for Trafford, with an improved upfront fee as they look to seal a deal for the England youth international.

The goalkeeper position has become an area of concern for Eddie Howe’s side, with Nick Pope suffering multiple injuries over the past season and Trafford has been identified as the club’s long-term solution between the sticks.
